Initially, I got a Lapdawg to attach to the treadmill, but it was sitting too low to comfortably work.

So I ordered a SurfShelf, and it just came. The SurfShelf sits at just the right height for me to type, as it’s attached to the top of the treadmill, rather than resting on the bars.

I’ll have pictures of the whole, new setup soon.

I’ve got a 32″ TV attached to the wall, so a computer can run through it at a good height, so I don’t have to look down at a laptop.

I also have a new computer on the way, which will be dedicated to the treadmill, plus a wireless mouse and keyboard. I can’t wait to have all of the pieces in place.

It was partly out of being stubborn.

One day, I decided to go for a run. This was totally random, since I hadn’t run since 1993 or so.

So, I was running and felt like I was about to die after a half mile. That day I decided I needed to get in better shape, and I made plans to complete a 5k race about 6 weeks later.

Long story short – I’ve run three 5k races since then, and I just got to a new level on my Nike Running account. I’ve run over 150 miles now.

I am working on running longer and more often. Feel free to check out my progress at http://my.nike.com/affiliatetip and give me grief if I slack on it.
